Beet Hummus Recipe by Tifamade

Tifamade, an internet friend of ours, makes sandwiches out in Paris. We saw this bright pink beet hummus on her tumblr and we just had to know the recipe! It’s simply 2 or 3 roasted beets blended with 2 teaspoons of tahini, bit of salt, a can of drained chick peas, lemon zest and juice of 1/2 a lemon.

Bwahahahaa!! I did always think he had a rather sheeny black...

I love rainy Wednesdays. I especially love rainy Wednesdays when the girls are home and we get to do fun girly stuff. The rain falling steadily outside gives a cozy backdrop to the fun we are having inside. It is like a blanket creating a barrier to the outside world and giving us the serenity to just relax and have fun…

And then Emma comes into my room…she starts throwing what looks like gang signs with her hands and awkwardly moving… she says “that means you are a smoking hot skeleton” and runs giggling out of my bedroom.

Like I said, I love rainy days :-)

So, today is the last day of my 26th year on this planet. Not really sure how I feel about it. On a normal day I tend to be a little sentimental and nostalgic but today has seemed like everything was in hyperdrive. Do you ever have a day where every little thing you do seems to have some invisible force that goes against it? You take my normal introspect and analytical nature and multiply it by a bagillion and then set a force against it that is just as great and you get my very weird frustrating day. I know that my decision to try and quit smoking has done nothing more than throw kindle to the fire but I digress. It is a really weird thing, this growing up. It feels as though I am wise beyond my years but in the same exact moment I feel like I haven’t really lived. I live in a mental paradox at the moment I guess. As a very wise mentor once said, “We have reached an impass” (Patrick Starfish), and in this moment I remember to not take life so daggum seriously because as I see it none of us are going to get out alive…

On a more upbeat note, I had an amazing evening with my mom and sisters Jade and Emma. We took them to subway and then the park. The sunset has never been quite that shade of peach and purple it seems. I looked at the huge old oaks in the park and thought of Grandma. This life, it is a funny thing….
